【Summary】:
Don’t charge for the first time
It is understood that most electronic products today use lithium batteries, while a few years ago, most electronic products used nickel-cadmium batteries. These two batteries have different recall effects. The so-called recall effect refers to the previous charge. If it is not fully charged, it will stop. Then, when the battery is charged later, the battery will recall the capacity of the previous charge.
The Chemistry Laboratory of South China University of Technology conducted 5 irregular charging and discharging of lithium batteries and nickel-cadmium batteries respectively: charging started before the power was exhausted, and stopped charging after 70% of the charge. The two sets of batteries are usually charged together. The result of the charge-discharge curve shows that the capacity of the lithium battery does not change much after 5 irregular charge and discharge, while the capacity of the nickel-cadmium battery decreases.
Professor Li from South China University of Technology said that through this experiment, we learned that lithium batteries have no recall effect. The first time it does not require 10-14 hours, the first few discharges are only to deal with the battery capacity of electrical equipment. In the future use process, it can also be filled arbitrarily without affecting the capacity.
The news that a mobile phone battery exploded and injured people is also frightening. Will charging for a long time make the phone heat up and not explode? Li Yanhong said that the experiment charged two lithium batteries for more than 12 hours. One is normal, the maintenance circuit is intact, and the other is damaged.
The test shows that the normal battery is maintained because of its maintenance circuit, even if it is charged for a long time, it will not cause an explosion, and it has no effect on the capacity of the battery. Do not maintain the battery, as the charging time increases, the temperature will get higher and higher, and it may burst if it exceeds 100°C.
Experts reminded that you must use batteries produced by regular manufacturers and use standard chargers to prevent the risk of being attacked.
